If you're like me, you love a good bandana. It's one of the season's hottest trends, great addition to any outfit and an accessory you can always find in a thrift store. I personally am on a mission to collect them all... especially a lavender and pastel yellow (so holler at your girl if you know where I can find one!)
Bandanas are an overall great accessory to have but for the purpose of this piece, i'll be focusing on them as a hair piece. The below four bandana trends are my personal favorites but it doesn't stop with these - there are so many more styles out there to experiment on. I also have a pinned board on the Consciously Eco Pinterest with varying styles not shown here. All bandanas shown are thrifted with the blue coming from Day Sleeper Vintage and the pink/green coming from Buffalo Exchange.
- Triangle - Hair Down/Pony
Place your hair in a low ponytail to start; Fold the bandana in half to look like a triangle and place on head, double knot under the pony holder and remove the holder, if you want your hair down. If you have bangs or baby hairs you want shown, adjust accordingly.
- Bandana Bun
I am a huge fan of messy buns so typically, I put my head upside down and wrap my hair circularly using one hand to hold the hair in place and the other to wrap. Place hair tie around balled hair and fold bandana in half, to a triangle. Roll up your bandana "cigar" style - as skinny of a "cigar" as you can make it and wrap around bun twice. Single or double knot to end.
- Karate headband - Hair Down/Pony
Place hair in either a low pony, if you want your hair down or a high tail, if you want it up. fold bandana in half, into a triangle then starting with the longest side first, fold bandana to about 1-1.5' pieces until you get a loose headband. Place on head either with knot in the back of head or like shown below, on the top with loose strands.
- Bandana in the ponytail
Put hair in either a low or high pony (like shown below.) Fold bandana in half into a triangle and either roll like a cigar or fold in 1-1.5' pieces until you get a headband shape. Wrap around pony holder and either knot once or twice, depending on the thickness of your holder or your bandana.
